Course Overview
Welcome to Ashwood International Collegiate's Grade 9 program, offering a diverse
range of engaging classes that nurture both personal and intellectual growth while
providing a strong academic foundation. We are dedicated to equipping student's with
the knowledge and skills necessary for success in high school and beyond, in
alignment with the Ashwood International Collegiate curriculum.
Our Grade 9 program aims to help student's discover their interests and passions
beyond academics. We offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities, clubs, and
sports to encourage interaction, foster friendships, and promote holistic
development outside of the classroom.
Grade 9 Curriculum
Grade 9 Mathematics lays the foundation for critical mathematical
skills and problem-solving. This course covers topics such as
algebra, geometry, and numerical operations, equipping student's
with
essential mathematical knowledge for their academic journey.
Grade 9 Science explores the wonders of the natural world through
hands-on experiments and real-world applications. Covering biology,
chemistry, and physics, this course sparks curiosity and encourages
student's to investigate the world around them.
Grade 9 English focuses on enhancing communication skills, both
written and oral. student's explore literature, improve reading
comprehension, and develop their writing abilities. Through the
study of literary works and creative writing, student's refine their
language arts skills.
Grade 9 Geography explores the dynamic world of geography, covering
topics like natural phenomena, human interactions with the
environment, and global issues. Through inquiry and research,
student's gain a deeper understanding of our planet’s complexities.
Grade 9 Business Technology introduces student's to essential
business concepts and technology applications. Through real-world
examples and hands-on activities, student's gain skills in
entrepreneurship, digital media, and computer applications
Grade 9 Healthy Active Living focuses on physical well-being and a
healthy lifestyle. Through physical activities and health education,
student's develop a holistic understanding of fitness, nutrition,
and
wellness.
Grade 9 French immerses student's in the French language,
emphasizing
listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through engaging
language experiences, student's build a strong foundation in French,
promoting effective communication and an appreciation for
Francophone culture.
Grade 9 Electives (Choose 1)
The Grade 9 Visual Art course offers student's a creative outlet to
explore their artistic talents. Through various artistic mediums and
techniques, student's express themselves, develop their artistic
skills, and gain an appreciation for the world of visual arts.
In the Grade 9 Music course, students embark on a musical journey,
exploring the elements of music and various musical traditions.
Through hands-on experiences and musical performances, students
enhance their musical literacy and appreciation.
The Grade 9 Drama course immerses students in the world of theater
and performance. Through improvisation, script analysis, and
dramatic productions, students develop their acting skills and gain
a deeper understanding of the dramatic arts.
Learning Strategies supports students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or those who are exempt from the French course requirement. This course helps students develop effective learning strategies and study skills to ensure academic success.
